![]() ![]() This would not be a major problem, but the correction is different paper (I mostly use various Hahnemuhle papers with ICC profiles provided by the paper manufacturer) by paper which leads to trial and error process. Also I have to tune up the brightness correction. I have an annoying problem: there is a strong magenta cast (the skin tons are purple) and I have to apply a strong correction in the output (I use Canon Print Studio Pro). Now I run out of my original Canon ink cartridges and switched 100&% to the refill kit. It's all about setting it up right the first time.About year ago I bought into Precision Colors refill kit for my canon PRO 100 printer. same workflow (import into aperture, print with canon glossy ii profile to 4圆 kirkland paper), got exactly the same color out of the pro-100 on both prints. I just printed the same image from a pair of mac laptops, one running 10.9.5 and the other 10.10.1 aka yosemite. In fact I used nothing but MACs at my biological lab but for whatever the reason, far too many people simply can't seem get then to produce a good print, specially after updating their OS to Yosemite. ![]() They seem to be great for everything else. The latest one besides this one is here: ![]() There dozens of posts just like this one here in the forum. People I realize MAC OS updates are free but newer is not always better at least when it comes to being able to get along with printer drivers and general photo printing. In fact I used nothing but MACs at my biological lab but for whatever the reason, far too many people simply can't seem get then to produce a good print, specially after updating their OS to Yosemite. ![]() The only reason I do not use a MAC is because I print photos. The latest one besides this one is here: There dozens of posts just like this one here in the forum. MAC users when printing seem to be riddled with Color Shift problems. Before I tried using it again I was afraid it might be clogged, but other then the colors being off the prints look good. The only other piece of information that I wonder might be relevant is that I've had the printer a while and haven't used it in probably 6+ months. Neither are showing nearly the difference I expected based on the Chrome print. The Canon Color Match is very close to what I'm getting via Photoshop color management and Color Sync is arguably better in some ways but pretty close to what I've been seeing. Honestly, the Chrome print looks overall more accurate then the Photoshop one.įor giggles, I tried printing my photo using both Color Sync and Canon Color Match options (ie: not Photoshop color management). White thru Black look excellent like on the other print. Obviously my display is back lit and my photo isn't so that explains the brightness.įrom Photoshop, all the colors except for Red and to a lesser extent Magenta look washed out compared to the Chrome print. I printed out that color test on some Platinum Pro via Chrome and Photoshop and got very interesting results:įrom Chrome, (which I assume is using the printer color management) the colors are relatively vibrant, and while not as bright, are a pretty close match. That would seem to me that Photoshop is doing the color management and not the printer right? I verified that the Color Options & Color Matching options are both greyed out in the printer driver. Yeah, I keep thinking I have double profiles, but I followed these instructions for printing from Photoshop: Not sure if I need to switch to a different paper (Red River, Ilford, etc?) or if this is just a case of me doing it wrong? I've read some indications that the Canon ICC profile for the Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss isn't that good, but everyone seems to be raving about the Pro Platinum and I'm not really seeing any real difference between the two. I even tried updating the printer firmware to the latest version. I've tried printing through Canon Print Studio Pro as well. Some combinations are better then others, but none of them are acceptable. I'm using OS X 10.10.1 and tried printing from both Photoshop CC 2014/Lightroom 5 and in all cases I made sure to not let the printer control the profile (in the print driver, the two options are greyed out). I tried both Canon photo paper plus semi-gloss and the Canon Pro Platinum and I'm using genuine Canon inks. So I spent hours yesterday trying to get my photos to look like my calibrated screen, but the entire photo has a distinct red/brown cast to it which makes clear blue skies look like there is smog- ironic for my photo of Mt. So my wife has asked for some photos hanging on our walls from some of our trips for Christmas. ![]()
